We have entered 2019 with a partial government shutdown and will have a Democrat House of Representatives majority by weeks end. The new Speaker of the House, once again, will be California Democrat Nancy Pelosi. The lack of resolve by the GOP while they had majorities in the House and Senate on the issue of an integrated border security system has led to this impasse. However, with the new House majority, the Democrats believe that they have the high ground on the issue. They are woefully wrong.
This past Friday, America lost another one of its members of the Thin Blue Line, one of our law enforcement stalwarts, Officer Ronil Singh of the Newman, California police department. Ronil is originally from Fiji, but came to America the right way, through our front door, which opens for those wishing to partake of the American dream … legally. Officer Singh was shot and killed by a suspected criminal illegal immigrant named Gustavo Perez Arriaga. Arriaga has been apprehended, along with seven others, who allegedly aided and abetted his escape and attempted return to Mexico. Two of the seven suspects arrested with Arriaga were also illegal immigrants. Yes, I said illegal, since that is the opposite of legal. Arriaga had two previous arrests for drunk driving, and Officer Singh stopped him on suspicion of drunk driving.
My first inquiry is, why is someone here illegally able to acquire the privilege to drive in the United States? My second inquiry is why is someone that is here illegally able to drive with two previous drunk driving arrests? The answer to both questions can be answered with a single word: sanctuary.
California, which is also the represented state of the new Speaker of the House, is a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants. I find it rather interesting that we did not hear much protest from the members of the California Democrat Congressional delegation on this matter. Of course, they did offer their displeasure over illegal immigrant families being separated. But what about the family of Officer Singh who will be forever separated from their loved one? Just the same as with Kate Steinle, whose death in California should have ended the absurdity of sanctuary city policies in the United States, there is no mention from the progressive, socialist left when Americans are needlessly gunned down by criminal illegal immigrants. But we have heard incessant rantings and emotional meltdowns over children of illegal immigrants who have sought entry into the United States, exposing their own children to the rigors of a very long trek. For the progressive, socialist left, somehow the blame falls to those charged to protect our borders, not the parents who endangered their children, unnecessarily.
The left, the Democrats, say that they support border security, but their actions do not align with their rhetoric. The left wants open borders. They have clearly articulated such. The left wants our Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency abolished so that we have more incidents of criminal illegal immigrants on our streets, murdering Americans like Officer Singh, Kate Steinle, or Mollie Tibbets, among many others. The left wants sanctuary status for those here illegally. Now how does that jibe with border security? Gustavo Perez Arriaga was also allegedly a gang member. Remember, Nancy Pelosi suggested that the vicious gang MS-13 had a “spark of divinity” in them? Sometimes the light you see at the end of a tunnel is a train heading towards you.
And these reasons, among others, represent the train that is heading right for the Democrats who are seeking a victory against President Trump. They desire a victory, even if it means sacrificing the lives of Americans in order to advance their ideological agenda. And this is where the Democrats will lose on the issue of border security. I am quite sure that Nancy Pelosi and her very wealthy constituents reside in houses that sit behind a wall. As a matter of fact, most of the California congressional Democrats represent some of the wealthiest congressional districts in America. I bet they live behind walls for protection. I do not have a wall around my house, and my assertion is that many Americans do not. There are those Americans who live near our southern border who live in fear as night falls. There are our law enforcement officers who do not know, as Officer Singh, that there could be a criminal illegal immigrant with an illegally acquired gun waiting for them. Oh yes, remember the California court acquitted the suspect in the killing of Kate Steinle, a man who had been previously deported several times?
Therefore, the left will lose this issue as they continue to refuse to support $5.7B in funding. I am quite sure that if we looked at the federal budget and assessed how much we spend on illegal immigrants in America … well, you get my point.
I have never been a card player, but I can certainly ascertain when someone is overplaying their hand. The progressive, socialist left is doing so on the issue of border security. I suspect that there will be another killing of an American by a criminal illegal immigrant. And each time that happens, which I pray does not – but the odds are not in that favor – it will be another nail in the coffin for the leftists who are more concerned about defeating President Trump than protecting Americans.
And that means, it may not be a happy new year for the new House majority under Rep. Nancy Pelosi … from the sanctuary state of California.
